Sitting ensconced within the confines of my room my mind is a flurry of thoughts and perceptions about the 365 days that will bring down the curtains of year 2024 at the stroke of midnight.

With God having poured out His grace on most of my family and friends my heart reaches out to those friends and family who have suffered moments of torment, grief and discomfort, my heart bleeds for the people of Palestine and Israel who have been in a bloody conflict lasting over a year. Their tragedy and misery is unparalleled by recent war standards. It will be my daily prayers that the Jewish people live in peace with their neighbours and that the world will put its shoulder to the wheel to rebuild a debris of destruction into an oasis of peace and understanding where the milk and honey of old will continue to flow.

On the national front we have been experiencing discrimination because of our faith and our fearlessness to bring the mercy of God to the lowly and marginalized. We ask our blessed mother Mary .. whose feast the universal church celebrates on the 1st to intercede for world peace and prosperity.

We commend in particular the people in Kashmir and Manipur who are in a terrible state of chaos orchestrated by the state machinery due to their inertia in acting swiftly and successfully.

We pray for people in authority to be touched by the spirit of God so that our pluralistic nation grows in peace and harmony……… embracing democratic values that are enshrined in the constitution. While we are living in comfort with proper meals and shelter

Let us spare a thought and pray for all those who are uncertain when and where their meal will come from.
We pray that pharmaceutical companies position medication that will be effective and affordable.
A lot of corruption and under hand deals have cast a smear on our nation and her economy…
We pray that good governance will thrive and that the haves will reach out to the have nots.
We pray for the children of our country and the world over that they may be exposed to proper education with the right financial support.

2024 has been a lesson to all of us….the middle East crisis could have resulted in world wide destruction……….evidently God is giving nations a chance to accept and understand the brother hood of man if the fatherhood of God is to be a reality.

Happy feast dearly beloved family and friends. May our blessed mother continue to intercede to Jesus, our God for the salvation of souls and unity between people of all faiths.
